Kalm Kydz is a positive mental health programme inspired by my clinical work in the area of children's mental health. It is developed out of, and based upon, basic Cognitive Behavioural techniques used in therapy where children experience chronic worry. Chronic worry in children is always concerning as it tends to result in low mood over time.
This programme was written in 2018 as a result of schools contacting me seeking support in relation to potential mental health workshops in primary schools. At the core of the programme children learn to tackle their worries using the Catch, Check and Change approach. This enables children to gain perspective and understanding into why they are getting upset about a particular thing and what action they can take about it. It gives basic coping strategies to children giving them additional ways to manage their own worries.
Details of this programme can be sent to schools who wish to learn more.
